Description

It is doubtful that anyone knows what the word “Yalbac” really means. The area known as Yalbac is behind Banana Bank, an area that includes the Yalbac Hills, and Cara Blanca. These are place names of distinct geological formations containing limestone cliffs, dense jungle, a steep ravine, cenotes and caves the ancient Maya believed were portals to the underworld where Chahk, the rain god resides.

The jaguar was sacred to the Maya. This painting is merely an attempt to portray the majestic persona of such a beautiful creature. An empress is the female monarch of an empire. Not much more needs to be said.
