Description

I do not know this lady’s name. She was always sitting in the same place, catty-corner to Brodies department store in Belize City, doing the same thing, day after day.

She sold mangos, bread fruit, honey and various other things. The lady behind her in the tight black pants was also often there and likely had something to sell. Making a living selling on the street is a hard way of life. It is best to pick a spot in the shade, out of the sun, the wind and rain yet be accessible to the passers-by.

We are all street workers trying to sell to those who are harried, preoccupied and uninterested. Even if we don’t have a product or service to offer, we strive to sell a concept of either love or hate. One or the other is packaged up everyday and marketed by every living human being.
